WhatsApp link generator.
Make a wa.me link with your message already typed in, a QR code to print, and a chat button for your website. Free, no sign-up, and it all runs in your browser.
Add your number above, or just a message to make a link people can forward to anyone.
WhatsApp opens this chat with your message typed in. Nothing sends until they tap send.
Three steps, about thirty seconds.
- 1
Enter your number
Pick the country and type the number the way you would dial it at home. We turn it into the international format WhatsApp needs.
- 2
Add a message
Optional. It appears typed into the chat box when someone opens your link, so they only have to tap send.
- 3
Share it anywhere
Copy the link, download the QR code for print, or paste the chat button into your website.
One link, everywhere your customers already look.
The same link works in a social bio, an email, an ad, a printed flyer or your website. Whoever taps it lands in a chat with you, with your message ready to send.

Four parts. Only the number is easy to get wrong.
wa.me is WhatsApp’s own click-to-chat address. Open it with a phone number on the end and WhatsApp starts a chat with that number, without anyone saving a contact first.
Add a message and it lands in the chat box, ready to send. It works for personal WhatsApp and the WhatsApp Business app alike, costs nothing, and never expires.

Always the same.
- 02
Country code first, digits only.
- 03
Leave it off for no message.
- 04
URL encoded: “Hi there! 👋”
How to create a WhatsApp link yourself.
- 1
Start with the country code.
1 for the US and Canada, 44 for the UK, 91 for India. No plus sign and no 00.
- 2
Add your number without its leading 0.
UK 07700 900123 becomes 7700 900123, so the full number is 447700900123.
- 3
Remove every space, dash and bracket.
Digits only, then put them after https://wa.me/.
- 4
Optionally add ?text= and your message.
URL encode it: a space is %20, & is %26, and emoji become a run of % codes.

Why WhatsApp links break, and the fix for each.
Keeping the plus sign
The link takes digits only. WhatsApp's own guide says to leave the + out.
Leaving the leading zero
The 0 you dial at home is a local trunk prefix. Swap it for the country code.
Using 00 instead of the country code
00 is how you dial abroad from some countries. Links never use it.
Spaces, dashes or brackets
Any of these break the link. Strip everything that is not a digit.
Forgetting the country code
Without it, WhatsApp reads the first digits as a country code and finds the wrong person, or nobody.
Pasting the message without encoding it
Spaces, &, # and emoji must be URL encoded, or the message gets cut off. The generator does this for you.
Tips
Get more chats from the same link.
- Use a different message for each place you share the link (“Hi, I found you on Instagram”), so you can tell where every chat came from.
- Keep the message short and easy to edit. People can change it before they tap send.
- Test the QR code with a phone before you print, and print it at least 2 cm (about 1 inch) wide.
- Shorter messages make simpler QR codes that scan faster from further away.

About WhatsApp links.
It is WhatsApp's official click-to-chat link. When someone opens https://wa.me/ followed by your number, WhatsApp starts a chat with you, even if they have never saved your number. Add ?text= and a message, and that message is typed into their chat box for them.
Type your number and message into the generator at the top of this page and copy the link. By hand, it is https://wa.me/ then your full international number in digits only, then ?text= and your message URL encoded, for example https://wa.me/15125550147?text=Hi%20there.
No. The message is only typed into the chat box. Nothing is sent until the person taps send, and they can edit or delete it first.
Yes. A wa.me link works for any number that has WhatsApp, on the WhatsApp Business app or regular WhatsApp. No Business API account is needed.
Almost always the number is in the wrong format: a plus sign, a leading 0 or 00, spaces or dashes, or a missing country code. Check it in the generator, which fixes all of these. The other reason is that the number really is not registered on WhatsApp.
Both open the same chat. wa.me is the short form WhatsApp recommends. api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=NUMBER&text=MESSAGE is the long form, and some older tools still produce it. The generator shows both.
WhatsApp shows a page that opens the chat in the WhatsApp desktop app, or in WhatsApp Web in the browser. On a phone it opens the WhatsApp app directly.
No. The QR code here contains your wa.me link directly, with no redirect service in between, so it keeps working for as long as your number is on WhatsApp.
Yes. Leave the number empty and type a message. The link becomes https://wa.me/?text=... and lets the person choose which chat to send your message to. It is handy for “share this with a friend” buttons.
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. What you type is never sent to Mossmoon. Your setup is kept in the part of the page address after the #, which browsers do not send to any server, so you can bookmark it.
WhatsApp does not report clicks on wa.me links. What you can see is the chats they start. If you want those chats in a CRM, app or AI agent, Mossmoon connects your WhatsApp number and sends every incoming message to your software as a webhook.
Turn those chats into a pipeline.
Connect your WhatsApp to your CRM, app or AI agent in about two minutes. Your first 7 days are free.
